Geary Co. Emergency Management provides storm damage assistance

JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) - Geary County Emergency Management is teaming up with the state and a nonprofit organization to provide relief to individuals impacted by recent storm damage.

Geary County Emergency Management, the Kansas Division of Emergency Management and United Way 2-1-1 are seeking individuals who were impacted by the storm. Geary Co. officials said they are looking for roof and wall damage from trees and wind, water in basements and any other damage from the storm. They aren't looking for downed trees unless they have damaged a vehicle or building.

United Way 2-1-1 will be collecting information until July 24. Once information is collected, the State will see if there is enough damage to apply for small-interest loans or other assistance.

On Friday, June 28, Geary County Emergency Management Director Garry Berges reported one building had collapsed in downtown Junction City and numerous streets in town were flooded. Berges reported 3 inches of rain had accumulated that same day.
