Holguin to deliver latest report on Cyprus to Guterres
On July 11, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Cyprus and Head of UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (Unficyp) Colin Stewart will inform the Security Council during a closed meeting as the body consults on the peacekeeping force on the island.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, currently in Washington DC for the NATO Summit, is expected to meet Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday. The meeting follows a sudden request from the Turkish side and was not originally scheduled.
Mitsotakis will be accompanied by Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and the head of the diplomatic cabinet Anna-Maria Boura.
Mitsotakis is scheduled to visit Cyprus in the coming days to attend events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of the island.
After the NATO Summit, Mitsotakis will travel to New York to meet Guterres for talks that will focus on Greece’s recent election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term and on the Cyprus problem
