Mr England contest in crisis after only a handful of fit fellas enter

ORGANISERS of the Mr England contest face a crisis because only a handful of fit fellas have entered.

Single blokes are said to be “shy and slow” in signing up for this year’s contest and the chance to become Mr World.

After the hunt for male competitors was launched three weeks ago only 20 men have entered so far – despite it only happening once every four years.

In contrast, the Miss England beauty contest attracts thousands of entries each year with women wanting to be crowned the next Miss World.

Now, the newly crowned Miss England, Milla Magee, is leading the hunt for contestants.

Lifeguard Milla, 23, has taken to her local beach armed with a surfboard and a wanted poster to try to lure “handsome men”.

Organiser Angie Beasley, who also runs Miss England, said: “We launched the Mr England contest about three weeks ago but so far only 20 guys have come forward.

“So we enlisted the help of the current Miss England, Cornish lifeguard Milla, who couldn’t wait to scout surfers in Newquay.”

Milla, who has been dubbed the Cornish Pamela Anderson by admirers, said: “I am so excited to be on the judging panel for Mr England 2024 next month.

“I will be looking for someone who is kind and passionate about representing our country.

“He must be a positive role model.”

Lads aged from 17 to 27 and “single, confident, sporty, charitable and charismatic” are being urged to enter online at www.mrengland.org.
