A’s roster moves: Harris to paternity list, Otañez recalled

Shouldn’t be a long-term move

The Athletics announced a roster move just hours ahead of their series opener with the Boston Red Sox:

Harris has been solid for the Athletics since stepping into the starting rotation. In 36 innings as a starter the left-hander is sporting an above-average 3.00 ERA while helping stabilize an injured rotation. Harris had been scheduled to get the start in the series finale on Thursday so the team will need to figure out who will be making that start.

Otañez will be returning to the Athletics after spending the past month back with the Aviators. In Otañez’s first (and to this point only) taste of major league action he allowed a hit and a walk while recording two outs against the San Diego Padres. Things have been rough for him in Vegas as he’s sporting a 5.35 ERA in 29 relief outings. We’ll see if he makes it into action over the next couple of days. Otherwise he could be sent back to Vegas for Thursday’s starter.
