George Stephanopoulos admits camera caught him doubting Biden can complete second term

New video appears to show ABC News Anchor — and recently, President Joe Biden interview — George Stephanopoulos casting doubts about the president's ability to complete a second term.

A video published by TMZ on Tuesday night showed a man walk up to Stephanopoulos on the street and ask: “What do you think, do you think Biden should step down? You’ve talked to him more than anybody else has lately. And you can be honest.”

Stephanopoulos, donning green shorts, headphones and a pair of gym shoes, appears to respond, although the audio is grainy: "I don't think he can serve four more years."

"You don't think he can serve four more years? All right. That's an answer," the passerby responds.

Stephanopoulos was walking Tuesday afternoon on Fifth Avenue in New York City.

He confirmed to The Washington Post on Tuesday night that he was the person in the video. “Earlier today I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have.”

A spokeswoman for the network said Stephanopoulos “expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News.”

The incident comes after Biden hoped that a televised interview with the ABC journalist would help assuage concerns over his cognitive ability, age, and candidacy following a disastrous debate against former President Donald Trump.

A raspy Biden fumbled through the debate, leading to grumblings from some within the 81-year-old's own party for him to step aside.

In the immediate aftermath, commenters across social media and on all sides of the political spectrum had varied reactions to the interview.
