The beloved Hollywood Uncensored host tragically passed away aged 64 in May earlier this year.

It has now sadly been confirmed the presenter suffered a heart attack in May.

In a statement shared on social media on Tuesday night, Rubin’s employers at KTLA said: “Beloved KTLA 5 News entertainment anchor Sam Rubin died from a heart attack brought on by coronary artery disease, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed on Tuesday.

“Rubin, 64, went to a hospital with stomach pain on the morning of May 10 after calling 911.

“He was pronounced dead in the emergency room shortly after 11am.

“In its report, the Medical Examiner said Rubin suffered from ‘ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease’.”

The medical examiner confirmed the manner of his death was “natural”.

In a touching tribute, KTLA added: “His vast knowledge of film and television and deep connections made him a celebrity among celebrities in the world’s entertainment capital.

“His sudden death was mourned by millions of Angelenos along with television viewers across the nation and around the world. Rubin is survived by his wife, Leslie, and his children, Perry, Rory, Darcy and Colby.”

This Morning paid tribute to Mr Rubin at the time of his passing.

Its Instagram account posted: “We have very heavy hearts this weekend with the news from Los Angeles that our Hollywood reporter Sam Rubin has died at the age of 64.

“Sam was an Emmy-winning entertainment correspondent and presenter for Los Angeles’ No 1 morning show on KTLA, and regularly broadcast live into This Morning.

“He woke up Tinseltown every day for decades with his likeable charm and knowledgeable take on the movie world, he was on first-name terms with the stars and became affectionately known as ‘ Hollywood Sam’. We will miss him.

One viewer replied: “So young… Condolences to Sam’s family and friends.”

Another said: “Oh no! That’s so sad!”

A third shared: “Such sad news, always loved his segments on the show. Condolences to his family.”

The star was well-known for his celebrity coverage in the Los Angeles area.

He joined KTLA morning news show in 1991.

The 64-year-old was a multi-time Emmy winner and the host of Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin, which produced over 100 episodes.

His production company, SRE Inc., produced more than 200 hours of shows, including the popular live from the red carpet shows.

Rubin received the Golden Mike Award, a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, per KTLA.

He was also one of the founding members of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the largest organization of broadcast and film critics in the US with more than 200 members.

After his tragic passing, his KTLA colleague Frank Buckley, said, “The Sam that you saw on the air is the Sam that was off the air.

“To all of us he shared his mornings with on television, and to those he worked with behind the scenes at KTLA, we will not forget him.”

Another one of his colleagues, producer Ashley Regan, shared her sadness after hearing the news.

“Today Los Angeles lost an icon and KTLA lost a family member. I’ll be forever grateful for the privilege of working in a newsroom with Sam. What a terrible loss,” Regan wrote on X.

KTLA confirmed Mr Rubin’s death on May 9.

The news outlet wrote on X/formerly Twitter: “KTLA 5 is profoundly saddened to report the death of Sam Rubin.

“Sam was a giant in the local news industry and the entertainment world, and a fixture of Los Angeles morning television for decades.

“His laugh, charm and caring personality touched all who knew him.

“Sam was a loving husband and father: the roles he cherished the most. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family during this difficult time.”
