Mikel Arteta already has David Raya as his number one with Ramsdale acting as the back-up.

However The Athletic have claimed that the North London club have made an “opening offer” for Bentley.

The report insists that the proposal was “immediately” rejected by Wolves.

It is suggested that the offer was “well below” the West Midlands outfit’s valuation of Bentley, who is seen as an important squad member.

Arsenal are keen on signing another goalkeeper to become the third choice at the club and strengthen the squad.

It is even claimed that the 30-year-old Englishman is wanted for pre-season with the Gunners.

The club are currently without Raya and Ramsdale, who are on international duty at Euro 2024.

This means only Karl Hein is available for Arteta after Arthur Okonkwo was released and joined Wrexham.

Bently joined Wolves in 2023 from Championship side Bristol City.

The stopper featured five times in the Premier League for the club last season, keeping one clean sheet.

Arsenal have a tricky start to the season

Bentley has connections to the Gunners, having spent seven years in the club’s youth academy between 2001 and 2008.

He left the club to join Southend and became the club’s first choice until he left in 2016 to join Brentford.

Bentley originally wanted to be a striker growing up until a change came during a holiday.

While at his Sunday league side, Brentwood-based Hutton Medway regular stopper Reece Ottley went away.

A ten-year-old Bentley was drafted in between the sticks and his goalkeeping career was started.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale continues to be linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium.

The England international is a target for Newcastle and Bentley’s Wolves.
