The pair left their home on June 21 to drive to Capas City in Tarlac, the Philippines to discuss a property deal.

Their SUV was found burning on the outskirts of Cristo Rey village in Capas the next morning, prompting a frantic search for the couple.

Cops soon received a mystery tip off from an informant who claimed he had been ordered to set the car on fire.

It led the special search task to an overgrown quarry site in Capas where they discovered the bodies of the two buried side by side in a shallow grave.

Philippine National Police spokesman Colonel Jean Fajardo said: “The informant was the one who pointed us to the grave. If not for him, we would still be searching until now.”

The autopsy revealed that the pair had died from gunshot wounds.

The bullet pierced through Geneva’s heart and lungs, while Yitshak was shot in his left lung.

Four suspects have been arrested, including two dismissed cops who face charges of illegal firearm possession.

The couple reportedly contacted one of the police officers, Michael Angelo Guiang, as a middleman to discuss the land purchase.

Capas Police, citing Geneva’s sister Joni, said in a police report: “Ms Joni Lopez said that prior to the incident, they were informed by her sister that they, Geneva and Yitshak, would both proceed to Capas, Tarlac, to meet or transact with a certain Michael Angelo Guiang in Capas, Tarlac, with regard to the land that was pawned to them by Mr Guiang sometime in 2021.”

But according to Yaniv, the brother of the Israeli man, Yitshak travelled to Capas to obtain the land’s deed rather than to make a purchase.

He said: “My brother was getting a land for a collateral of a loan basically.

“No, he didn’t come with any money. He came for a meeting with a suspect, just because he was telling him that he’s ready with the papers for the land and that he has a buyer.”

He added that his brother was involved in real estate and loans, and the killings might have been motivated by money.

Yitshak’s remains were returned to Israel to be buried in line with his family’s traditions.

PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean said: “We already have a clear indication why these two victims were murdered. We have leads and know who the mastermind is behind their deaths.”

Police are refraining from commenting further while the investigation is ongoing.
