Palestinian officials have reported that in the latest Israeli airstrikes on eastern Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, more than 29 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed.

Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday, July 9, that the attack targeted family tents outside a school in the town of Abasan, east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.

According to reports, this is the fourth Israeli airstrike in the past four days on a Palestinian refugee shelter in Gaza.

However, the Israeli military has announced it is investigating reports of civilian casualties in the attacks, adding that the strike was aimed at killing a Hamas commander involved in an October 7 attack on Israel.

Meanwhile, Hamas has warned that continued Israeli attacks on Palestinians could jeopardize ceasefire negotiations.

The director of the Gaza government media office, run by Hamas, has accused Israel and the US government of being responsible for the “horrific massacre of civilians” in Gaza, emphasizing that in the attacks yesterday, Israel killed 60 Palestinians and injured dozens more.

While global efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza have been unsuccessful, the United Nations has warned of increasing hunger and famine throughout Gaza.

According to Gaza health officials, at least 33 more children have recently died from malnutrition in northern Gaza.

According to health authorities in Gaza, during the nine months of Israeli attacks on Gaza, 38,243 people have lost their lives.
