New overnight works close highways

New overnight works begin on Wednesday evening, closing two highways to traffic.

Works will be carried out on the Limassol-Nicosia highway, from Mouttagiaka to Moni, and from the entrance of Nicosia to the Agia Varvara turnoff for Larnaca.

The public works department says the part of the highway from Mouttagiaka to Moni will be closed from 9pm on Wednesday till 6am on Thursday, to repair the tarmac.

Both lanes at that part of the highway, with a direction from Limassol to Nicosia, will be closed and traffic will be diverted to a single lane of the highway from Nicosia to Limassol.

In Nicosia, from the Kalamon roundabout at the entrance of Nicosia till the exit for Agia Varvara, works will be closing the highway from 9pm on Wednesday till 2am on Thursday, to clean the middle lane and attend to bushes in the median.

Furthermore, from the entrance of Nicosia till the Agia Varvara turnoff for Larnaca, works began on Monday and will run through till July 19, to replace parapets in the median.

These works begin at 9pm and end at 5am on the next day, on weekdays.

During the works, the right lane is closed and traffic is funnelled to the middle and left lane.

The police call on drivers to maintain low speeds, keep a safe distance from preceding vehicles and follow the signs.
