Ryanair has new route to THE affordable holiday destination of 2024 – with cheap beer, year-round sun and 3-hour flights
RYANAIR is launching a new route between the UK and a cheap holiday hotspot where Brits are almost guaranteed warm weather.
The budget airline launched a twice-weekly service between Manchester Airport and Tangier in Morocco.
Earlier this year, Tangier was named one of the best places to travel in 2024 by Vogue thanks to a string of new hotels being opened, and Kayak also named it in their top three best value flight destinations for the summer.
Direct services are already in operation, with flights operating between the two destinations every Saturday and Monday, making for the perfect long weekend.
Outbound services on a Saturday will leave Manchester Airport at 9.05am before landing in Tangier at 12.15pm.
Flights will then depart from Tangier Airport at 12.40pm, landing back in Manchester at 3.50pm.
The flight times for services on a Monday differ, with the aircraft leaving Manchester at 3.30pm before arriving in Morocco at 6.40pm.
Monday return fights will depart for Manchester at 7.05pm, touching back down in the UK at 10.15pm.
The new route, which launched earlier this week, is already in operation, with tickets on sale on the Ryanair website.
Sun Online Travel have found return fares between Manchester Airport and Tangier for £90.78, with one-way tickets starting from as little at £19.99.
The news comes after Ryanair officially opened its new base in Tangier, marking the airline’s fourth base in the country.
Services from the travel hub took to the skies earlier this year, with two aircraft now based in Tangier.
Eddie Wilson, CEO of Ryanair, said: “We are delighted to officially launch our new base at Tangier, which represents a $200 million investment and our fourth Moroccan base.
“This latest base opening is part of our record S24 schedule which will see Ryanair operate over 170 routes across the Kingdom, boosting tourism and connectivity.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism added: “The opening of Ryanair’s new base in Tangier marks a significant milestone in our tourism and economic development strategy.
“This expansion strengthens the position of Tangier and the entire northern region as a choice destination, facilitating the arrivals of both national and international tourists.”
WHY TANGIER?
Most people visiting Morocco head to Marrakech, but the city of Tangier in the north of the country is a vibrant alternative.
One of Vogue’s top places to visit this year, the city is often considered the gateway from Europe to Africa thanks to an exciting blend of cultures.
Established as an International Zone in 1912, Tangier attracted both Americans and Europeans, which means visitors can expect to see street signs in Arabic, French and Spanish.
Flights from the UK take roughly three hours, with temperatures reaching highs of 20C even in the winter.
Hotels in the city are relatively affordable too, with overnight stays at the Hilton costing less than £100 a night.
Holidaymakers can also book local Riads where prices start from just £20 per night.
Food and drink is cheap too, with pints of beer costing as little as £2.
Tourists can easily travel between holiday destinations in Morocco following improvements in transportation, which have taken place in recent years.
The first high speed train in Africa launched in 2018, connecting Tangier to Casablanca, with plans to extend it from Agadir and Marrakech.
It’s not just Tangier you should be adding to your Moroccan bucketlist.

Other new flight routes launching from the UK
THERE are plenty of other new routes launching from the UK to destinations Brits might not have considered travelling to before.
- Later this year, the UK flag carrier will launch a brand-new direct service between London Heathrow and Tromsø in Norway.
- Budget airline Norse Atlantic Airways is launching new transatlantic flights from London Gatwick to Las Vegas, and it’s the first time the London airport will have flights to the US city.
- Norse Atlantic Airways will also operate new routes from London Gatwick to Cape Town this winter.
- EasyJet has launched new flights from Glasgow Airport to Larnaca in Cyprus and Enfidha in Tunisia.
- Lufthansa City Airlines will have flights between Birmingham and Munich from June.
