Albany man charged with attempted murder in domestic-related shooting
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man was arrested in connection to a domestic-related shooting incident that happened on the 300 block of Second Avenue. Maurice Steward, 33, faces multiple charges.
On Tuesday, around 5:15 p.m., police responded to a residence on the 300 block of Second Avenue for reports of a domestic-related shooting incident. Upon arrival, police say they found a 19-year-old male with a foot injury and evidence consistent with gunfire.
After an investigation, police say Steward was involved in a physical altercation before the shooting with people who live in the residence. Police also say Steward left the home, returned with a handgun shortly after, fired toward the victim causing the injury, and fled the scene before their arrival.
Charges:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Steward was taken into custody without incident on the 400 block of Myrtle Avenue. He is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
