Nicole Scherzinger Chose a Stylish Pair of Mules to Elevate Her Wimbledon Outfit — Here’s Why the Versatile Style Is Perfect for Summer

Rain couldn’t stop Nicole Scherzinger from making a fashion statement at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The singer curated a classic ensemble to attend day eight of the tournament at the All England Club on July 8, wearing a white A-line dress and black leather mules.

The singer displayed her European summer style at Wimbledon, selecting a white dress made of a relatively stiff fabric that fell near her ankles. Scherzinger accessorized with gold bracelets, several rings, layered necklaces and hoop earrings. She also held a small black leather purse that matched her shoes.

Scherzinger chose black shoes to complement the white dress, creating a classic color contrast. The heeled mules featured a minimalist yet chic design, with a thick, curved leather strap across her toes. The front of the sole was pointed, adding a bit of sharpness to the footwear.

Mules can easily be dressed up for more formal summer events or dressed down for casual outings, making them a flexible footwear option for warmer weather.

The shoe style is most often thought of in its closed-toe variety, though it can also be an open-toed shoe silhouette featuring a thick strap across the top of the foot. The shoe variety reemerged in the 1950s, with stars like Marilyn Monroe favoring the style — especially the newer open-toe style. Mules recently saw a bump in popularity in the 2010s in all types of fashion. The style can feature a variety of heel heights, with closed-toe mules often featuring flat soles while open-toe varieties often feature high heels.

Scherzinger understands that black leather shoes are a wardrobe staple. She slipped on glossy black pumps at the 2024 Olivier Awards in April and wore stiletto-heeled leather boots in London in September 2023. She switched up the color scheme when she wore tan sandals with a dramatic ankle strap during London Fashion Week in September 2023.

Scherzinger starred in “Sunset Boulevard” on the West End in London and will continue her run as Norma Desmond now that the show is moving to Broadway.
