Family time is complicated for Brad Pitt, who shares six kids with his estranged ex-wife Angelina Jolie. A new source just revealed the only reason the Outer Range executive producer sees his children, and it says a lot about their strained relationship.
An insider close to the family told PEOPLE that Pitt’s legal visitation rights with his under-18 kids are the reason he sees them. “[Angelina] has the kids most of the time, but per their agreement, he has visitation with the younger kids,” the insider dished.
The actor shares kids Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne with Jolie. For the four kids who are adults, though? They reportedly don’t talk to their dad at all.
“He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule,” the source told the outlet, referring to the fact that Pitt is currently in Europe filming his upcoming movie F1.
Oof! Only seeing your minor children because you have a legal right to isn’t a good look, and it seems to show that he is not prioritizing his relationships with his older kids. Especially because many of his children have legally and/or publicly dropped “Pitt” from their last name and don’t appear to have any desire to spend time with him. Although, insiders close to Pitt claim the opposite, with one person telling In Touch Weekly, “He’s tried to rebuild relationships with all his children, and will continue to try. He hopes things will change over time when the kids are not so heavily influenced by Angelina.”
As for the Maleficent star, insiders recently told PEOPLE that she “seems very happy and content with her life” right now. “She’s focused on her kids and work,” they continued about the Oscar winner. “She’s involved in projects that she truly cares and feels passionate about.”
They added that Jolie is “very proud of her kids.”
