George Clooney calls on ‘friend’ Joe Biden to QUIT White House race days after seeing ‘depleted’ president at fundraiser

HOLLYWOOD megastar George Clooney has called on bumbling Joe Biden to quit the 2024 US Presidential election race.

The loyal Democrat, who has hosted several fundraisers for Biden, said the 81-year-old can’t win the “battle against time”.

In his critical op-ed published by the New York Times today, the actor, who met Biden three weeks ago at a fundraiser, said: “It’s devastating to say it, but he is not the same man he was, and he won’t win this fall.

“I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him.

“But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.”

Clooney held leaders of the Democratic party responsible for ignoring “every warning sign” of Biden’s declining physical and mental health.

He also added loyal voters of the Democratic party “collectively hold our breath or turn down the volume whenever we see the president, who we respect, walk off Air Force One or walk back to a mic to answer an unscripted question”.

The star has now joined the list of critics who have advised Biden to step down from the upcoming November elections.

The stammering commander-in-chief is increasingly being ridiculed for making a string of gaffes on various occasions – including the disastrous presidential debate with Donald Trump.

At 81, Biden is the US’ oldest president in history and has long been the subject of discussions around his mental sharpness.

Many lawmakers as well as US citizens insisted on Biden stepping down from the election race, claiming he was not physically fit for the high-profile position anymore.

Amid all the speculations, however, Biden announced he is still running for office – and aims to beat Donald Trump.

He wrote in a letter posted to Instagram: “Now that you have returned from the July 4 recess, I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to bearing Donald Trump.”

He said he was “not blind” to people’s concerns about the election, but affirmed he was aware of the work it took.
