'Can't be serious': Reporters buried for hyping Trump's new tone after 'deranged' rally

A report from Axios is once again claiming that former President Donald Trump is softening his "tone" to appeal to voters -- but critics on the internet aren't having it.

The Axios report in question is claiming that Trump has "adjusted his agenda" and the Republican Party platform has changed in a new bid to appeal to moderate voters, despite the fact that Trump spent Tuesday night ranting about pardoning people who violently stormed the Capitol on his behalf on January 6th, 2021.

This prompted howls of ridicule from critics who have spent years observing Trump.

"Do you guys ever get tired of trotting out the 'Trump has a new tone' line? I’ve been hearing about it for nine years. He always reverts back to the original," lamented national security lawyer Bradley P. Moss.

Moss following this up by tweeting a note to VandeHei with a video of Trump saying, "It's a lot of fun being indicted. Thank you," during a Florida rally on Tuesday night. Moss asked: "New tone, right?"

Huffington Post reporter Josephine Harvey, meanwhile, detailed Trump's "deranged" rant in the Florida rally where he rambled on about Chris Christie's weight.

"In his first campaign rally since the presidential debate, Donald Trump went on a bizarre tangent that left critics disgusted and questioning his fitness for office," the report said.

Moss and Harvey were not the only critics to heap dirt on the Axios report.

"Omfg you can't be serious with this bs," ranted KJ Martin. "This is the Trump has a new tone! Trump sounds presidential! Bulls--t all over again."

"There no new 'tone' just talk about Silence of the Lambs," another individual pointed out from the Trump speech.

Minnesota reporter Christopher Ingrahm noted that the idea of Trump's "pivot" or his changing tone has been a consistent story since 2016. He posted four screen captures showing headlines from 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020, all of which claim Trump has changed his "tone."
