"World-class" star eagerly waiting for Man Utd to buy him, wants to play for Ten Hag - report

Manchester United are searching for a new defensive midfielder this summer and they are currently evaluating multiple transfer targets.

The club recently made their first move for Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte while they are also in contact with Benfica regarding Joao Neves.

Amidst this, Fiorentina News claim that Sofyan Amrabat is eagerly awaiting a final decision from the Red Devils, who have the option to purchase him.

Amrabat spent the previous campaign on loan with United. The Red Devils have a £17 million buy clause which is reportedly active until the 20th of July.

Fiorentina are prepared to sanction his sale but as things stand, there are no signs from United that they would exercise the option to re-sign the midfielder.

Man Utd could opt for Amrabat reunion

The Moroccan star, who was described as “world-class” by Walid Regragui, joined the Red Devils on transfer deadline day last summer after much speculation.

Amrabat was on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs, but he was adamant on making the switch to United to reunite with manager Erik ten Hag.

However, his loan spell did not go as planned. Amrabat struggled to adapt to the higher intensity of the Premier League and made only 21 league appearances.

He was a regular on the bench until the final four games of the campaign. Casemiro had to move into central defence due to an injury crisis in early May.

This allowed Amrabat to start alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the last three league games. He also got the nod in the FA Cup final where Casemiro was benched.

Casemiro eventually pulled out of the squad after he was injured in the warm-up session.

Amrabat is now eager on rejoining the Red Devils after Ten Hag’s new deal. It has also been reported that the Dutchman is also keen on working again with him.

However, the final decision rests on the hierarchy. They are currently optimistic of landing Ugarte from PSG and this could close the door on a deal for Amrabat.

Only time will tell what the club are planning to do. Amrabat could also emerge as an option for United if they are prepared to part ways with Casemiro this summer.

With 51 days left in the transfer window, the Red Devils could also re-negotiate Amrabat’s transfer. He could be signed for less when his contract expires in June 2025.
