Melania Reappears for Conservative LGBTQ+ Fundraiser
She welcomed the Log Cabin Republicans into her home for the second time this year.
For the most part, Melania Trump has steered clear of the public eye in recent months. The last time she was seen with Donald Trump was at their son’s high-school graduation. She did not attend any of the Stormy Daniels hush-money trial. And she was not there to witness the train wreck that was the first 2024 presidential debate. However, the former First Lady did poke her head out this week to host a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative LGBTQ+ group.
“Page Six” got the exclusive on the fundraiser, which was held at the Trumps’ New York residence in Trump Tower. “Hors d’oeuvre and Champagne flowed as the First Lady generously welcomed the guests to her home with off-the-cuff remarks,” one attendee told the tabloid. Melania reportedly spoke of her and Donald’s support for the LCR, and donations flooded in to the tune of $1.4 million.
Back in April, Melania hosted another fundraiser for the LCR at Mar-a-Lago. That event drew a starrier crowd, by which I mean Caitlyn Jenner and Dr. Oz. At the Manhattan fundraiser, the biggest name in attendance was Kellyanne Conway. Outside of these two fundraising events, Melania has not shown an incredible amount of enthusiasm on the campaign trail thus far.
Her son, Barron, however, might be getting a taste for it. The 18-year-old appeared at his father’s campaign rally in Florida on Tuesday, where he received a standing ovation. Barron gave the crowd a thumbs-up, and his father told the crowd, “That’s the first time he’s done it. That’s the first time, right? You’re pretty popular. He might be more popular than Don and Eric. We got to talk about that.”
While Barron might become the campaign’s greatest Gen-Z asset, Melania seems very comfortable with a more limited role. She stays in the shadows until it’s time to raise money for gay Republicans, at which point she puts on a nice dress and smiles. She seems fairly happy with the arrangement.
