Stuyvesant man arrested after pursuit with law enforcement

State police announced the arrest of Corey Hinz, 35, of Stuyvesant, following a chase with law enforcement on July 9.

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police announced the arrest of Corey Hinz, 35, of Stuyvesant, following a chase with law enforcement on July 9. Hinz is facing numerous charges.

Hinz was reportedly a known suspect of multiple burglaries in Columbia County. On Tuesday around 8 a.m., a deputy of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) began pursuing Hinz after seeing him driving an off-road vehicle in Kinderhook.

The CCSO was joined by state troopers in a collective search for Hinz, during which aviation and ATV units were deployed. Hinz was eventually located and taken into custody after a six-hour pursuit. He now faces the following charges, with further charges pending:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • Third-degree burglary
  • Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon: loaded firearm
  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • Third-degree criminal possession of stolen property
  • Two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny
  • Second-degree criminal mischief
  • Two counts of third-degree criminal mischief
  • First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation
  • Third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Petit larceny
  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstruction of governmental administration,
  • Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Driving while ability impaired by drugs

Hinz was arraigned at the Town of Kinderhook Court before being remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on July 16.
