Doubleheader Gamethread: Twins at White Sox, twinned

A true straight Twin-bill!

After rains washed out last night, the White Sox host Minny for a series-ending straight doubleheader on Wednesday.

Jake Eder, once the prize arm from Chicago’s second spurt of “rebuild” trades in 2023-24 but now falling behind Mason Adams, Jairo Iriarte, and Ky Bush at minimum, is the 27th player for the doubleheader. Given that the call-up does not count as an option/service time and Eder was already in Chicago/due to be in Chicago (Barons starters are getting tuneups at Sox Park all week anyway) this is a totally sensible call in spite of Eder’s season not being quite worthy of call-up. Under these circumstances do NOT expect Jake to see action today. (But with this South Side bullpen, who knows.)

Game 1 lineups

A pitcher named David Festa is the 27th player for the Twins today.

This gamethread is intended to roll all day, both games, and is doubtful to be updated for the nightcap. Anything breaking (injury, achievement) in the opener will probably warrant a second story.

So, discuss all day here, and we will see if the Twins can stretch their 2024 streak against the White Sox to 10-0 before the dust or puddles settle.

Both games are on NBCSCH and ESPN-AM 1000 today, with the back-to-back game action starting at 1:10 p.m. CT.
