Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Wednesday, July 10, 2024
Akron RubberDucks 19, Reading Fighting Phils 3
Box Score · RubberDucks improve to 47-35
What happens when two of the top hitters from Rake County get promoted to Akron? Akron’s team starts blistering the ball too!
That was the case Tuesday as the RubberDucks scored 19 runs on a whopping 26 hits.
C.J. Kayfus only had two hits, but they were both smashed over the fence. The red-hot 2023 third-rounder raised his OPS to 1.079 by going 2-for-6 with a pair of bombs, a walk and five runs batted in.
With his third multi-homer game for Akron, @CJK_3121 is the first @CleGuardians minor leaguer with 70 RBI this season!

But that’s not all. Khalil Watson went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases, scoring three runs, and Yordys Valdes went 2-for-5 with a double a stolen base and a walk.
Starting pitcher Tommy Mace was superb. He allowed one run on two hits in six innings while striking out four and walking one. Alaska Abney added two scoreless innings of relief.

Other standouts included Alex Mooney and Jorge Burgos, who both went 2-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base, and Guy Lipscomb, who went 2-for-4 with a walk.
It wasn’t the best day for a bullpen game as no pitcher for the Captains lasted longer than three innings. Zane Morehouse was the only one not to give up any runs, pitching two scoreless frames.
Lynchburg Hillcats 1, Delmarva Shorebirds 5
Box Score · Hillcats fall to 45-37
Lynchburg actually outhit Delmarva 8-6, but six walks, two errors and two hit by pitches helped sink the Hillcats.
Juan Benjamin had an excellent game, going 3-for-3 with a walk. Jose Pastrano reached base safely three times, going 1-for-2 with two walks and Jaison Chourio went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, but Lynchburg went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 baserunners stranded.
Starting pitcher Jackson Humphries lasted just 2 2⁄3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout. Jack Jasiak was sensational out of the bullpen, tossing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts, one hit and one walk, but the initial two runs allowed was too much for the lackluster offense to overcome on Tuesday.
