Games Ninety-Three and Ninety-Four: Kansas City Royals at St. Louis Cardinals
Let’s play two!
The St. Louis leg of the I-70 series will both start and end today as the Royals and Cardinals prepare to play a day-night doubleheader after yesterday’s game was postponed due to weather. With both teams six games above .500, each will look to establish dominance over the Show Me state.
Game one will pit Alec Marsh against Andre Pallante. Marsh has been a perfectly capable fifth starter for most of the season, but he has struggled some lately with a 5.81 ERA in his last ten starts. He’s been prone to the long ball, with nine homers allowed in that stretch. Marsh has never faced the Cardinals.
Pallante began the season in St. Louis’s bullpen but moved to the rotation at the end of May. He’s mostly fared well, pitching to a 3.34 ERA in seven starts. He’s thrown up a couple clunkers but has allowed zero or one earned run in five of those starts. Pallante last faced the Royals in relief last August, allowing three runs over two innings of work.
This page will be updated with info for game two following game one.
