Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has already built quite the résumé just seven seasons into his NBA career.

He’s a five-time All-Star, four-time All-NBA selection and the 2023 All-Star Game MVP. Oh yeah, he’s also an NBA champion now as he teamed up with Jaylen Brown to lead the Celtics to Banner 18 this past season.

And NBA Hall of Famer Reggie Miller believes there’s more in store for Tatum.

“So PROUD of Jayson Tatum!!” Miller wrote Wednesday in an Instagram story shared on the X platform by WEEI’s Justin Turpin.. “Love the work he puts in on and off the court to be the best, he’s only scratching the surface people.”

Tatum in some ways already surpassed what Miller did in his legendary career with the Indiana Pacers. Tatum has the same number of All-Star Game appearances as Miller and the Celtics standout holds one more All-NBA nod over the Pacers sharpshooter.

Tatum even has a shot to pass Miller’s illustrious 3-point mark given the way offenses rely on outside shooting in the modern NBA. Miller, who was named to the NBA’s 75th anniversary team, held the record for most career 3-pointers with 2,560 triples, which now has been surpassed by Stephen Curry, Ray Allen, James Harden and Damian Lillard. Tatum currently sits 73rd on the all-time list with 1,296 3-pointers.

Miller never got his hands on the Larry O’Brien Trophy, which is an accomplishment that will serve Tatum well in any debate.

While Tatum certainly would take more championships, perhaps the only missing piece to his résumé is coming out on top in the MVP race. He has been close in years past, finishing in the top six each of the last three seasons.

Winning league MVP honors just might be next for Tatum and that would only strengthen what has been a terrific career to this point.
