'Don't like where we are': Democratic governor caught on hot mic doubting Biden's chances

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who has publicly supported President Joe Biden even as his own name has been floated as a possible replacement at the top of the ticket, was caught on a hot microphone on Wednesday doubting the state of the race.

The audio, obtained by CBS Chicago, showed Pritzker telling a constituent at a crime-fighting event that his party is "going to keep fighting."

"I don't know what to say," he said. "You know, got to do what we have to do"

Pritzker added: "I don't like where we are, but —" and the video cuts off.

CBS Chicago shared the clip with Pritzker's office, which said it sounded like he was talking about the presidential race.

Pritzker has recently given the president some free advice since his disastrous debate performance in Atlanta, telling Biden to talk more in public.

"It was important, I think they took too long, and I think he admitted this, after the debate, for him to really go out and do press that would get some national attention," Pritzker told reporters Tuesday.
