Firefighter foam spilled at Granville Saint-Gobain facility

A spill of firefighter foam took place on Friday at the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics facility in Granville.

GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A spill of firefighter foam took place on Friday at the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics facility in Granville. Washington County officials said the foam traveled offsite of the facility along a drainage ditch to the Indian River.

Officials said the investigation into the spill is ongoing. The firefighting foam contains PFAS chemicals.

If you have a private well for drinking water in the area, officials said you may be contacted to have your water tested. If you use the village water system, then your water does not need to be tested.
