ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A local nonprofit is working to expand access to fresh, healthy food. Trinity Alliance hosted a pop-up food distribution in Albany's South End neighborhood on Wednesday.

The organization offered vegetables, fruit, and dairy products. The neighborhood has long been a food desert. Organizers said food distributions reduce the stigma of asking for help.

"The need of food has risen -- just the need of assistance has risen with people," Trinity Alliance Health and Wellness Operations Supervisor Shakeemah Dixon said. "It's been so hard lately."

Trinity Alliance is hosting two more distribution events. One will be held at their pantry on August 7 at 47 Lark St. Another will be held on August 14 at their South Ferry Street location.

Anyone with questions or in need of assistance can give them a call at (518) 449-5155.
