Gautam Gambhir SALARY: BCCI Yet to Decide India Head Coach’s Annual PACKAGE – REPORT

Gambhir starts his stint as India head coach during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. 

Mumbai: Earlier this week, the Board of Control of Cricket in India confirmed Gautam Gambhir as the head coach following Rahul Dravid’s tenure. Now there are massive speculations over how much will Gambhir charge. Report suggests that the BCCI has not yet finalised Gambhir’s salary. Gambhir starts his stint as India head coach during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

“For Gautam, it was important that he took charge and salary and other stuff can be worked out as it’s not going anywhere. It is similar to the case of Ravi Shastri in 2014 when he was first made Director of Cricket over head coach Duncan Fletcher,” a BCCI was quoted as saying by PTI.

“The day Ravi joined, he didn’t even have a contract and things worked out. In the case of Gautam also, some finer details are being worked out. The salary will be in the same range as Rahul Dravid,” he added.

As per reports, Dravid was getting a salary of Rs 12 crore annually. So, Gambhir could in all possibility fetch the same amount as Dravid.

Meanwhile, Dravid, the departing head coach of Team India, has declined an additional bonus offered by the BCCI, which would have equated his reward to that received by members of India’s T20 World Cup-winning playing squad.

A day after India won the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup with a thrilling seven-run win over South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said the team would be rewarded with a whopping cash prize of Rs 125 crore in total.
