Shaheen Afridi MISBEHAVES With Pakistan Coach Gary Kirsten During T20 WC 2024 – REPORT

Lahore: A lot has happened in and around the Pakistan cricket team following their early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. From blame-games to sacking, it is all happening. Amid all this, Pakistan coach Gary Kirsten has accused premier pacer Shaheen Afridi of misbehaviour. Kirsten revealed that Afridi misbehaved with the coaching staff and now, a probe is underway. It would be interesting to see what happens now.

“Shaheen Afridi from the Ireland T20I series, England T20I series and the T20 World Cup 2024, has been accused of bad behaviour by Gary Kirsten and Azhar Mahmood. No action was taken against the pacer and he continued to misbehave and has also been accused of lobbying,” a report on Samaa News stated.

Earlier, in a statement released on Wednesday, PCB said, “The Board has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup.”

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that there would be significant changes in the structure of Pakistan’s team after poor performances in the World Cup. On Tuesday, he met with the head coaches, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, to give them a free hand to turn the nation’s cricket fortunes around.

At the T20 WC 2024, Pakistan, who were in Group A, lost their matches against USA and India and hence could not make it through to the Super 8s. They were considered to be among the favourites to win the title.

Pakistan will also be hosting the Champions Trophy in a few months time.
