The Evil Within 2 boss guide: The Matriarch

The Evil Within 2’s final boss, the Matriarch, is a heart-wrenching battle between Sebastian and Myra — or at least a confused and twisted version of his estranged wife. In this guide, we’ll show you how to defeat her at the end of Chapter 16, “In Limbo.” Myra has a few phases, but your goal in each of them is the same: Shoot the glowing orange part. You can see each of her glowing bits in the gallery above. At the beginning of the fight, shoot her stomach. In the next phase, shoot her shoulders. In the next phase, shoot the stump that used to be her shoulder. In the final phase, shoot her head. Since Myra is the size of a multi-story building, you’ll need a ranged weapon. You’re basically good with anything except your shotgun. As you can see in the video above, we had great success with the warden crossbow’s explosive bolts.
