Gautam Gambhir WANTS Ryan ten Doeschate as Part of Team India’s Coaching Staff – REPORT

Not long ago, Gambhir lavished praise on the former Dutch cricketer recently in a viral video.

Mumbai: Gautam Gambhir, who has recently been appointed as India’s head coach, wants former Dutch star Ryan ten Doeschate as part of his coaching staff. As per a report on Cricbuzz, the decision now lies with the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). It would now be interesting to see if the Indian board obliges with Gambhir. Not long ago, Gambhir lavished praise on the former Dutch cricketer recently in a viral video.

“When I talk about selflessness, I have never said this in 42 years of my career. And I wanted to say this. The greatest team man I ever played with, the most selfless human being, someone I can take a bullet for, someone who I can trust for life.

“I can tell you this because in 2011, my first game as a KKR captain, we only had four overseas (players) available. And this man had a fabulous 50-over World Cup. And we went in that game with only three overseas players. He was carrying drinks in that game with no disappointment on his face. He taught me selflessness. Ryan ten Doeschate (sic),” Gambhir says in the video, shot at a KKR function last season.

Meanwhile, a report suggests that the BCCI has not yet finalised Gambhir’s salary. Gambhir starts his stint as India head coach during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

“For Gautam, it was important that he took charge and salary and other stuff can be worked out as it’s not going anywhere. It is similar to the case of Ravi Shastri in 2014 when he was first made Director of Cricket over head coach Duncan Fletcher,” a BCCI was quoted as saying by PTI.
