Our B&B was on Four in a Bed but what we did when the cameras weren’t rolling felt like cheating

THE secrets behind popular Channel 4 programme Four in a Bed have been spilled online with one of the employees of a property featured on the show admitting it felt like “cheating” whilst preparing for the show.

Four in a Bed has become a staple of Channel 4‘s early evening output with viewers flocking week-in week-out to see an array of B&B owners competing against one another to be crowned best in show.

One show cleaner revealed they spent hours as opposed to “30 minutes” getting the property ready for filming[/caption]

The properties are expected to be presented on the show in the same way that regular members of the public would find them and charged for the exact same price too.

However, one cleaner who used to work at a property that was part of the contest admitted their cleaning schedule was ‘overhauled’ before filming commenced.

The cleaner, who did not reveal the identity of the B&B in question, admitted that they spent “hours” getting the rooms ready before the cameras moved in as opposed to there usual 30 minute quick fix.

It made the process feel ‘inauthentic’ the cleaner admitted as they wrote online: “Me and two other cleaners spent hours cleaning the rooms when we usually spent a maximum of thirty minutes.

“It kinda felt like cheating. I can’t remember if we even won.”

Elsewhere, the cleaner in questioned opened up the many behind the scenes secrets which are kept carefully hidden away from fans.

They told how B&B owners were given very little information about each property before their visit and that they were even BANNED from talking to one another unless it was for a filmed scene on the show.

Divulging more, they said: “They didn’t know where they were going or who owned which B&B until they went.

“They were told beforehand basic information about the properties ie. a glamping B&B in Wales, a historic house in South England but no more information.

“They weren’t allowed to talk to other contestants when they weren’t filming but they were able to sneak in small chats every now and then.

“They weren’t told to say anything in front of cameras but were made to repeat conversations several times so they could try different camera angles.”

Another commenter admitted they had stayed at one of the properties on the show and had befriended the owner into revealing some secrets from filming.

They told how the B&B owners were “chased” by producers after they tried to avoid the cameras.

The comment read: “He [the B&B owner] was saying how they all snuck out to the pub and they were chased down by a producer who had to sit with them and make sure they didn’t discuss each others properties.

“He was also saying that they had to keep doing multiple takes for things like being shown to the bedroom and meeting at the front of the b&b.

“That’s why sometimes it looks so forced and unnatural.”
