Tokyo stocks close higher with Nikkei ending above 42,000 mark for 1st time

TOKYO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Thursday, with the Nikkei topping the 42,000 mark for the first time, as technology issues tracked overnight gains in their U.S. peers.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 392.03 points, or 0.94 percent, from Wednesday at 42,224.02.
