Butlin’s confirms much-loved attraction to finally reopen – after being forced to close last year

BUTLIN’S has confirmed that one of their much loved attractions is to reopen this month – eight months after being forced to close.

The Skegness resort was forced to close it’s main swimming pool, as well as the wave pool and lazy river back in November 2023.

A broken water pump meant the pool was unable to safely open to the public.

At the time, a spokesperson said: “We unfortunately encountered a burst pipe which has caused the temporary closure of Splash Waterworld in our Skegness resort.”

While the water flumes and kids pool remained open, many guests were left gutted by the closure.

One mum said she had been forced to cancel her break, choosing to go to the Bognor Regis park instead.

And back in May, another mum was left gutted after booking a trip to Butlin’s Skegness only to realise it was still closed.

She said: “It’s a big deal for me and the main reason we booked to go there.”

However, the resort has now confirmed that the the pool will be able to reopen this month.

The website states: “Our team are working hard behind the scenes to fix the issue and our main pool will be back open from July 29.

“Please continue to keep an eye on our website for all the latest updates.”

Earlier this year, the Skegness resort also launched its £12million Maple Walk Village.

Just a short walk from the centre of the resort, the 128 lodges each have three bedrooms.

Other new openings at Butlin’s Skegness is the £2.5million Skypark back in April, which has the UK’s longest seasaw.

And other new additions are set to open at other Butlin’s parks.

The Bognor Regis resort is opening The Playxperience in autumn, with two floors and eight zones of games and activities.

And new first all-inclusive package deals have launched across all the parks, which includes booze has well as drinks from the on-site Costa Coffee.

There could even be a new Butlin’s park in the UK.

The boss has revealed plans to buy an old Pontins site in Southport to turn it into a fourth Butlin’s park.
