Temperatures remain hot in NY, NJ; rain approaches

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The front that brought much needed rain to the tri-state area will continue to move offshore today as high pressure continues to dominate the weather for the region. 

The region can expect partly sunny skies Thursday afternoon with a high of 90 in the city, mid 80s for coastal areas and upper 80s to low 90s over inland spots.

Friday will be partly cloudy with showers and thunderstorm possible as a stationary front will remain draped over the region. The high will be 85 in the city, mid to upper 80s in the suburbs.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with showers early followed by partly sunny skies in the afternoon. The high will be 86 in the city and mid to upper 80s in the suburbs.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with temperatures heating up again as high pressure will continue to dominate the weather for the area. The high will be 91 in the city and upper 80s to low 90s in the suburbs.

Monday will be hazy, hot, and humid with temperatures that will once again be well above average. The high will be 95 in the city and low to mid 90s in the suburbs.

Tuesday will be hot and humid once again as winds will continue to bring air from the Gulf of Mexico into the region. The high will be 97 in the city and in the mid to upper 90s in the suburbs.

Wednesday will be sunny and humid with temperatures in the low to mid 90s for much of the area.
