Tatiana Karelina is a hair loss and extension expert, with salons in London, Manchester, and Los Angeles.

Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey are among the celebrities who’ve bought her custom hair products.

Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she shared how to get enviably long tresses.

HAIR HEROES

Karelina said as a child she would only use homemade haircare products that had worked for other women in her family.

“I remember my grandmother had the most amazing hair,” she said.

“She did two things religiously.

“She was massaging castor oil onto the scalp to improve blood circulation and promote hair growth.

“She also did an egg and olive oil mask for the protein supply to the hair.”

According to Healthline, olive oil may be beneficial for preventing split ends, promoting hair growth, and keeping the scalp healthy.

Many people leave the oil to sit on their hair for at least 15 minutes before washing it out with lukewarm water and shampoo.

Karelina revealed that her grandmother would always rinse her hair with camomile tea.

“We collected and dried so much of it during the summer so we always had plenty of camomile in the pantry,” she said.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Karelina said hair plays a “significant role” in personal identity and regrowth can make a person feel like their “true” self.”

“I also noticed that with improved appearance and self-esteem, clients feel more comfortable and confident in social interactions,” she said.

“Less reserved and self-conscious, more open and happy.

“As the anxiety and stress associated with hair loss diminishes, it leads to a more relaxed and positive mindset.”

She revealed the specific nutrients that a diet needs to be rich in to combat shedding and support hair health.

At the top of her list is protein, as hair is “primarily made of keratin,” a type of protein.

“Iron deficiency can lead to hair loss,” she said. “Zinc is essential for hair tissue growth and repair.

“Omega-3 Fatty Acids help nourish hair and support its growth.

Biotin, vitamin B7, is essential for hair growth and overall hair health.

“Vitamin A helps produce sebum, which keeps the scalp healthy, while vitamin E supports blood circulation to the scalp.

“Deficiency in vitamin D can lead to hair loss.”

She revealed that biotin, vitamin B7 is “essential” for over hair health and growth.

Vitamins B6 and B12 are equally important for the lengthening locks.

She said vitamin C should be a staple in diets to help with the production of collagen which is “vital” for hair strength and enhances iron absorption.

“Selenium is an antioxidant that helps the body process proteins to grow hair,” she said.

“Magnesium helps with protein synthesis and hair growth.

“Adequate water intake is crucial for maintaining healthy hair.”
