‘It’s pornographic’ yells mum as she demands a popular swimsuit to be banned as she doesn’t want her son to see it

A CONCERNED mother is demanding a popular swimsuit to be banned, as she wants her son, eight, to be protected from it.

Amy Dixon, from New Zealand, is calling for what she describes as ”pornographic” garments to be banished from her local public swimming pool in New Plymouth.

She launched the page after her eight-year-old son saw a woman sporting the teeny garment at this swimming lesson[/caption]

Launching the petition, the mum, who has three sons, explained that this pool is a particularly popular choice amongst young children.

Amy, who was wondering if she was being a prude for demands, started the campaign after her eight-year-old son saw a young woman wearing a G-string while at his swimming lesson.

”The term itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini seems to have taken on a whole new meaning,” she wrote on the petition page.

”It was pornographic,” the Kiwi told Taranaki Daily News.

”I don’t want to be an overprotective mum. Is that the space we’re in with society now? If so, I’ll find ways to prepare my kids for that. But do we have to do that?”

Although the centre’s rules note that women’s breasts should be adequately covered, it currently has no rule against walking around in a G-string.

On her petition page, Amy said that women wearing the popular garment have often left her family ”feeling uncomfortable and the enclosed area means looking away or moving spaces is not always an option”.

Since launching the petition, the parent has found a lot of support, with one social media user writing: ”Pools are generally kid places, the fact women think it’s OK to be so inappropriate is mind blowing”.

The signer remarked that the swimmers wearing teeny garments are, in their eyes, simply after attention.

”They just want to be looked at.”

Another agreed, writing: ”I want to have a fun family outing without bums up in my and my children’s faces”.

Amy’s petition page has also gained a lot of support elsewhere, including Australia.

One Aussie teacher noted that they see this happen ”frequently”, adding that it’s ”inappropriate for a child to be exposed” to a G-string.

‘Young kids don’t need to see women’s bums’

A similar campaign was recently started by another Australian man in the sunny Queensland, Daily Mail reported.

Ian Grace sparked fury after pleading for revealing swimwear to be banned from Gold Coast beaches, insisting that women are ”cheapening themselves” and the sight of skimpy bikinis was also making others ”uncomfortable”.

The community worker – who said that the ”real issue here is the men who might be ogling the girls” – detailed an incident when he walked past a woman who was wearing the popular summer garment.

Best shops for curvy swimwear

IF you're a curvy girl looking for some new swimwear, look no further..

Some popular stockists to head to when shopping for the best plus-size swimwear include Simply BeNew LookM&S, and Pour Moi.

Though ASOSBoohoo and PrettyLittleThing also have an impressive collection to leave you looking a million dollars relaxing poolside.

Not only this, but below are some retailers you won’t want to miss for curvy girl swimwear.

Triumph has a versatile range of swimwear options to shop, across separates, one-pieces and beach cover-ups.

This means shoppers can select a full matching set, or mix and match, to feel stylish when in your swimwear.

There is a specific fuller cup range to shop within swimwear, which not only helps shoppers find their perfect swimsuit but whittles out the other creations for a speedy and fuss-free shopping experience.

River Island may not be the first retailer we think of when on the hunt for the best plus-size swimwear, but they do have a plus-size section to shop and it’s quite impressive.

While the selection is not as vast as other retailers, the section is bold and beautiful, but most importantly, supportive too.

The collection includes bikini tops and briefs, swimsuits, as well as flattering beach cover-ups and dresses to layer over your swimwear.

The plus size swimwear at River Island range in sizes, but fetch up to a UK 26 or 28.

Simply Be is another firm favourite for plus size shoppers to head to as it has stunning pieces, across lingerie and swimwear, to cater to your style, shape and needs.

The swimwear can range up to a UK size 32, which is why Simply Be stands out in a crowd of fashion retailers because you can trust there will be swimwear to hold you in the right places and feel comfortable.

Shoppers can secure separate two-pieces, as well as one-piece swimsuits, cover-ups, and everything in between. Plus, we are impressed with the variety of prints and patterns too.

Pour Moi is a reliable shopping destination for underwear and swimwear, including those shopping for plus-size swimwear or fuller busts with cup sizes going up to a J.

There is a large range of stylish swimwear to shop, including bandeau designs, high-waisted briefs, underwired bras, and much more.

So, rest assured you can find a chic and supportive swimming ensemble to pack for your vacation.

Bravissimo is one of the first retailers that springs to mind when shopping for plus-size fashion, whether it is underwear or swimwear.

At Bravissimo the cups can range up to a J cup, which is extremely rare for many high-street retailers.

The swimwear styles vary from bikinis to tankinis and one-piece swimsuits, but every style is stunning, so you can look and feel good on those day trips to the beach.

”One young lady in particular was walking on the footpath on the main road and had the tiniest triangle in front and was as close to naked as anyone could be,” he recalled.

”While any man would enjoy “the view”, I believe women are very much demeaning and cheapening themselves, portraying themselves as sex objects, then decrying it when men see them that way.”

Ian then added that if G-strings are not banned at the beach, they should ”very definitely banned the moment they are off the beach”.

”This certainly should not be allowed in public pools or theme/water parks which are very much more family orientated. Young kids don’t need to see women’s bums.”
