The Royal Cork Yacht Club will be represented at the 2024 World Sailing Youth World Championships by Oisin Pierse and Fionn Daly sailing a 29er Skiff.

Open to young sailors up to the age of 19, around 1600 of the world’s best young sailors from over 75 countries will descend on Lake Garda for the 2024 World Championships, held from 13-20 July 2024. Fionn and Oisin will compete against teams from 28 countries.

In total, 11 events will be sailed, including the Male and Female divisions of the 29er Skiff, 420 Two Person Dinghy, ILCA 6 One Person Dinghy along with the Mixed Two Person Multihull, the Nacra 15.  It’s important to recognize the immense dedication and hard work required to qualify for this competition. Each sailor has undergone a selection process set out by their national sailing associations, making their achievements even more commendable. We are proud of our representatives and the level of skill they have attained to qualify.

Oisin and Fionn will be joined on the Irish Sailing Team by Clementine van Steenberge National Yacht Club and Jessica O ‘Riordan Royal St George Yacht Club sailing a 29er Female Skiff.  Lucy Ives Royal St George Yacht Club and Bobby Driscoll Ballyholme will be representing Ireland in the ILCA 6 category.

The Royal Cork Yacht Club would like to extend our heartfelt best wishes to Team Ireland, may their journey be filled with memories that last a lifetime.
