Johnson labels Biden health 'biggest political cover-up that we have ever seen'

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said in a Wednesday interview that Democrats’ approach to dealing with President Biden’s health concerns amounts to the “biggest political cover-up that we have ever seen.”

In an interview on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle,” Johnson responded to former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) saying she was advising Democrats to “just hold off” on airing any concerns they might have about the president until after the significant NATO summit this week.

“It's been an incredible thing to watch on Capitol Hill,” Johnson told Ingraham, when asked what he makes of Pelosi’s comments and what they “tell you about her confidence in Biden.”

“The Democrats are in total disarray. They don't know what to do. They don't have a plan B, but they know they got a serious problem,” Johnson continued, telling host Laura Ingraham, “You’re right: It's the biggest political cover-up that we have ever seen, maybe in U.S. history, and it's the most consequential, as well.”

Ingraham also asked him about Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) sticking with the line, “I’m with Joe,” as questions swirl around the president’s candidacy following a poor debate performance last month. She noted those three words don’t explicitly endorse Biden’s reelection bid.

“It's open to individual interpretation,” Johnson said in response. “It was very carefully worded, and he said it over and over and over, which is not like Chuck Schumer. He likes to give lots of commentary.”

“They don't know what to say here, Laura. That's the point, is, they're really in a bind," the Speaker continued. "And they did it to themselves because they tried to hide the truth from the American people for 3.5 years."

He added, “We have all been saying it, but the media went along with their whole charade. And now the jig is up. And now everybody can see it."

Johnson's comments come as alarm bells ring about Biden's mental acuity, after he appeared to stumble on his words and lack energy in a debate last month against former President Trump. The event has sparked concern among Democrats about his ability to beat Trump or serve another four years, and many have called on him to step aside.
