Gautam Gambhir’s Tenure As Head Coach To Begin; India Vs Sri Lanka Series Commences On July 26

Sri Lanka will host India for three T20Is and as many ODIs, marking the start of India's tour of Sri Lanka 2024.

New Delhi:  Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the full schedule for their upcoming home series against Team India on Thursday, July 11. India will visit the island nation later this month for an ODI and T20I series.

This series will mark Team India’s first assignment under new coach Gautam Gambhir, who recently replaced Rahul Dravid. While India’s first endeavor since becoming T20 World Champions is the ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, the series against Sri Lanka is expected to see most of the World Cup-winning squad return to action.

Team India and Sri Lanka will resume their white-ball cricket rivalry later this year. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in any format since their ODI World Cup clash in Mumbai, where Sri Lanka suffered a crushing 302-run defeat. The Sri Lankan team will be eager to make amends in the upcoming series.

Sri Lanka will host India for three T20Is and as many ODIs, marking the start of India’s tour of Sri Lanka 2024. According to the itinerary released by SLC, India will arrive in Sri Lanka on July 22, with the T20I series kicking off on July 26.

The second and third T20Is are scheduled for July 27 and 29, respectively, with all three matches being played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. Following the T20Is, both teams will head to Colombo for the ODI series.

The first ODI is set for August 1, with the second and third games taking place on August 4 and 7, respectively. The ODI series will be hosted at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

1st T20I –     26th July, 2024

3rd T20I –     29th July, 2024

1st ODI –      1st August, 2024
2nd ODI –   4th August, 2024
3rd ODI –      7th August, 2024

India will be visiting Sri Lanka for the first time since 2021. On the previous tour, India had played 4 T20Is and 3 ODIs. India had won the T20I series by a margin of 3-1 before losing the ODIs 2-0.
