On Friday, 5 July 2024 during the tea interval at Henley Royal Regatta, the first ever CULRC crew celebrated with a reunion row to mark 50 years since the start of the 1974/75 season.

The crew was as follows:

Cox Tony Elgood (Pembroke)
Stroke Mike Archer (Trinity Hall)
7. Neil Burnett (Clare), Originally 3
6. Bob Greatorex (Fitzwilliam)
5. JJ Williams (Trinity Hall)
4. Sir David Reddaway (Fitzwilliam)
3. Charlie Temple-Richards (Magdalene)
2. Tom Rossiter (Pembroke)
Bow Richard Bates (LMBC)

Fondly remembered was John Barter (LMBC), the original 7 seat who sadly passed away in 2023. The crew’s thoughts were with Donald Dumbell Conzett (Fitzwilliam), the original 5 seat, who was unable to join due to illness. JJ Williams & Charlie Temple-Richards were the original spare men and the Club also celebrates their achievements.

The 1975 Cambridge men’s lightweight crew will be formally honoured by the Club at an anniversary celebration taking place on Saturday 14 September 2024 in Cambridge, alongside members of the 1984 Cambridge women’s lightweight crew celebrating their 40th milestone. All members, regardless of legacy Club, are invited to join. Tickets can be purchased here.

If you are a lightweight crew interested in hosting a reunion at September’s gathering, please get in touch with Sarah-Kate Roberts or Freddie Markanday.
