Singapore leads individual standings across four cups at SEA Amateur Golf Team Championship

Host nation Singapore led the individual standings across all four competitions in the penultimate round of the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship on Thursday.

Ryan Ang, Brayden Lee, Alyosa Atienza and Chen Xingtong sit atop the leaderboard after day three of competition in the Putra Cup, Lion City Cup, Santi Cup and Kantini Cup respectively.

Ang traded five birdies against one bogey for a four-under-par 68 to lead Vietnam’s Nguyen Anh Minh by one shot with his three-day total of seven-under-par 209 while Lee signed for a 73 for a one-shot advantage over Malaysia’s Joshua Lim at the Seletar Country Club.

In the Santi Cup, Atienza returned with a 72 to head into the final round with a three-shot cushion over Thailand’s Achiraya Sriwong and Pimpisa Rubrong. Despite struggling to a 76, Chen holds a commanding six-shot lead over Thailand’s Krittiya Thanintorndamrongdej and Kritchanya Kaopattanaskul.

In the team standings, Singapore hold a five-shot lead over Thailand in the Lion City Cup while Philippines dominates the Putra Cup with an eight-shot advantage over Vietnam.

Thailand currently leads the team standing in the Santi Cup and are tied with Singapore for the Kantini Cup.

“It’s all about the team this week. It’s the South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship, after all. Nothing’s about me and it’s all about the country. I want to get myself and these boys off the line and get a podium finish,” said Ang.

Lee also echoed Ang’s sentiments and said: “I’m not really concerned about the individual standings. I was quite disappointed I couldn’t finish it off well as I had a couple of double bogeys. We just want to close out this tournament and bring the trophy home.”
