American Pie star unrecognisable 25 years on from iconic teen movie as he turns 44
AMERICAN Pie star Thomas Ian Nichols looked unrecognisable 25 years after the release of the iconic teen film.
The former child star appeared noticeably different as he took X, formerly Twitter, to celebrate his 44th birthday.
Sharing a snap of himself, Thomas looked worlds away from his signature role as Kevin.
He showcased longer hair and a beard which was different from the clean-cut all-American look that launched him to fame.
The actor captioned the snap: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes!!! I’m feeling the love today. Happy to be spending the day with my kids and eating sushi.”
American Pie landed on the box in 1999 and followed the journeys of five high school juniors who planned to lose their virginity before graduating.
The film’s title refers to a scene where main character Jim has sex with a pie after being told that third base feels like “warm apple pie”.
Despite initially shocking audiences with its explicit scenes, the film became a box office hit.
After portraying a high schooler in American Pie, Thomas starred in Halloween: Resurrection (2002) and National Lampoon Presents: Cattle Call (2006).
He became well known for playing Henry Rowengartner in Rookie of the Year and Walt Disney in Walt Before Mickey.
Thomas also went on to play Frank Sinatra Jr. in Stealing Sinatra and even featured in a Grey’s Anatomy episode.
In 2021 he appeared as the lead character in the crime thriller Adverse, alongside Mickey Rourke.
He has two children with his ex-wife Colette Marino.
The couple separated in 2019 with Marino filing for divorce in 2022.
He announced their divorce due to “irreconcilable differences”.
