In the true spirit of British football culture, it’s always nice to have a tipple to mark big matches.

Luckily for those hosting a watching party at home, getting the cocktails flowing doesn’t have to be an expensive job.

And that’s thanks to Aldi

The budget supermarket has introduced a range of branded boozes for this weekend only.

At just £14.99 for a big bottle, they’re cheaper than every other supermarket.

Those looking to bag a bargain will need to be quick, though.

The bottles are being sold as a Specialbuy deal – so once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Gordon’s London Dry Gin, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan Original Spiced Gold Rum and Antica Sambuca all hit the middle aisle today.

Whizzing up a G&T or making a martini from the comfort of your own home has never been cheaper.

Maybe save the Sambuca shots till after the game, though – nobody wants to black out before the opening whistle is blown.

The Three Lions semi-final victory over the Netherlands was watched by a peak audience of 21.6 million on ITV on Wednesday night.

Their 2-1 win was the most-watched television programme in 19 months.

This is the highest peak audience on a single channel since December 2022, when the nation watched England’s quarter-final exit on ITV in the FIFA World Cup.

Broadcasters are hoping more than 30 million viewers will tune into Sunday night’s final against Spain, based on the numbers that tuned in for England’s defeat in the Euro 2020 final.

NHS guidelines on drinking alcohol

According to the NHS, regularly drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week risks damaging your health.

To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level if you drink most weeks:

  • men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis
  • spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week
  • if you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week

If you’re pregnant or think you could become pregnant, the safest approach is not to drink alcohol at all to keep risks to your baby to a minimum.

There’s even hopes of an extra Bank Holiday to celebrate an England Euros win if they bring it home.

Pleas rose across the country today as Sir Keir Starmer vowed to mark any victory.

Fans dared to dream of a day off as calls for a national celebration grew should the Three Lions make 2024 England’s year.

The new PM said he did not want to “jinx” the historic clash but would not rule out let giving millions have time off work to revel in a glory.

And an extra day off on Monday calls for post-match cocktails with your bargain Aldi tipples.
