Fur and glitter cover New York City in ‘Furby Wuz Here’ campaign

NEW YORK (PIX 11) -- Furby is back, and it’s invading New York City!

Toy company Hasbro is launching an immersive campaign called "Furby Wuz Here," celebrating one year since the return of the ’90s must-have. From now through July 17, keep an eye out for “furbified” objects across the city, including Furby footprints in wet cement and fur-covered benches and bicycles.

Furby’s trail of mischief will run from Herald Square through Midtown, leading down to 21 Spring St., where "Furby's New Crib" is located. Memorabilia from the toy's original launch in 1998 will be featured in the space, reminding visitors of the craze surrounding the large-eyed, talking robot.

Hasbro President Kim Boyd said Furby was met with just as much excitement in its relaunch as it received in its heyday. To celebrate its renewed popularity, the company is releasing a new wave of colors for the miniature Furblets.

Furby’s New York City takeover can be tracked through an online map and tickets to the immersive event can be booked on Eventbrite.
