ELECTRICAL INFRASTRUCTURE: LSEB SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH LNSC TO COMBAT THEFT, VANDALISM 

In a significant move to safeguard public infrastructure, the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB) and the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) have announced a collaborative effort to address the pervasive issues of theft and vandalism of electric cables and street lights.

The General Manager of LSEB, Engr. K.A.T Balogun disclosed this during his recent working visit to the Head Office of the Safety Corps at Bolade, Oshodi, emphasising the critical need for the partnership.

While noting that the collaboration was a necessary step following the Stakeholders’ Meeting on Vandalism between the two agencies held earlier this year, Balogun highlighted that the Safety Corps operates in all 57 Local Government Areas (LGA) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in Lagos and their capacity to gather intelligence on crimes, ongoing criminal activities, suspicious behaviour, and potential crime suspects is invaluable.

In his remarks, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Prince Ifalade Oyekan expressed his support for the initiative, stating that by working together both Agencies can significantly enhance the safety and reliability of public infrastructure.
He asserted that the agreement marks a proactive and strategic approach by both agencies to enhance the security of Lagos State’s electrical infrastructure, ensuring the continuous provision of essential services to its residents.

“This collaboration aims to leverage the extensive reach and local knowledge of the LNSC to monitor and protect vital electricity infrastructure across the state. The proactive measure is designed to not only deter criminal activities but also ensure the swift reporting and handling of incidents, thereby minimising disruptions and financial losses”, Prince Oyekan added.
