For the first time in eight years, the South Stand naming rights are available for a business to showcase their brand.

This is thanks to Honorary President Alex Penman, who has agreed to end his sponsorship early in order for the Club to seek new investment.

Every fan has stood on the terracing and dreamed about owning their team.

Alex Penman did just that and was at the helm for our greatest successes – promotion, the Coca-Cola Cup win and our European adventure.

Alex grew up in Cardenden, where his mum was a cook and his dad was a miner. His dad wasn’t greatly into football and it was his uncle Davie that first took him to Stark’s Park to see Raith Rovers.

Alex’s leadership during the Premier League era was pivotal. He spearheaded the construction of the new upgraded stadium, a remarkable achievement that began immediately after the season ended and was completed by the start of the next.

Alex played for the successful Eastbank team in Kirkcaldy with their Under-16s, 18s and 21s. By his own admission he wasn’t good enough to turn senior.

As a successful businessman and Rovers’ fan he first joined the club’s board of directors in October 1990. In April 1994, he finally managed with fellow directors to coax and cajole shareholders to help set up a new company Raith Rovers’ Holding Company, which extended the share capital in the club, bringing new money into the club.

As a mark of recognition for all Alex has done for Raith Rovers, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in November 2017.

Even now, as he steps back from his sponsorship role to open opportunities for new investment, Alex remains deeply connected to the Club and spends many Saturdays with us in hospitality.

His legacy will always be a part of our proud history.
