At the star of this month the show was removed from the schedule for an entire week in favour of Wimbledon coverage.

On Tuesday this week regularly hosts Alex Jones, Jermaine Jenas and Roman Kemp were also replaced by Vernon Kay and Lauren Laverne.

In further disruption to normal programming The One Show was cancelled yesterday evening.

And now as Alex, 47, and Roman, 31, hosted Thursday’s episode, they announced another shake-up.

Closing the programme, Alex told viewers she would be joined on Friday – but a stand-in presenter.

Vernon Kay will once again be on anchor duties as Roman and Jermaine miss the show.

Alex told viewers: “I’ll be back tomorrow night alongside Vernon Kay, when former Little Mix star Perrie will be talking about her new music.

“Plus, we’ll be joined by Bafta winning actor Anne Marie Duff and comedian Jack Dee.”

The One Show airs tomorrow at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
