Lucas Bergvall has admitted that the first few days of training at Tottenham have been challenging but revealed that they have also been thoroughly enjoyable.

Bergvall is widely seen as the best young talent to have emerged out of Swedish football in recent years and the youngster continued turning heads with his performances for Djurgardens over the past few months.

Tottenham fans are thus excited to see what the 18-year-old can do in a Spurs shirt and they do not need to wait for long, with the youngster now training under the watchful eyes of Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff as the preparations are underway ahead of the new campaign.

Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe revealed on The Last World on Spurs podcast last month that the Lilywhites do not plan on sending the midfielder out on loan, with the newcomer expected to have a first-team role next season.

The Swede has now reflected on his first few days at Hotspur Way, remarking that he is keen to get to know all of his new teammates.

Bergvall told the club’s official website: “It’s going really well, this is a fantastic club with amazing players and amazing staff, so I’m really happy to be here and start pre-season.

“Training has been really good, tough as well, so much speed and power. So, yes, it’s been tough, totally different from Sweden, but it’s fun as well. It’s a really important time for me, important to get to know everyone before the season starts so we can form that good connection.”

The step up in speed, intensity and physicality would be considerable compared to the Swedish top flight and it will undoubtedly take Bergvall at least a few months to find his feet and make a mark.

It will no doubt be exciting to see what the teenager can do in pre-season, starting with the trip to Hearts next Wednesday and it is great that he has his compatriot Dejan Kulusevski to help him settle in.
