ME+EM is the brand on everyone’s lips after Keir Starmer’s wife stepped out in a red midi dress last week – which sold out two days later.

Dubbed “soft power dressing”, Victoria’s style is understated, graceful and relatable.

Luxury British designer ME+EM is the health worker’s label of choice — and she is in good company as the Princess of Wales is also a fan.

While the £275 red dress with white stitching caused traffic on the label’s website to soar by 300 per cent, a £295 white, cropped bolero jacket Victoria wore on election night also sold out.

The occupational therapist was also spotted in the designer’s £325 green, floral silk dress at Sandown Park racecourse last weekend.

The label, which was launched in 2009 by Clare Hornby, is also the go-to for royals Sophie Wessex and Zara Tindall, TV presenters Christine Lampard and Alex Jones and even Hollywood’s Margot Robbie, Katie Holmes and Lupita Nyong’o.

Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner’s fashion choices have garnered attention lately and two of her recent choices — a £550 mint green trouser suit and £227 orange cap sleeve midi dress — were also from ME+EM.

It makes sense, as the brand’s target audience is busy, working women, who are looking for the three Fs of clothing — flattering, functional and forever lasting.

It says its ethos is that of “intelligent style for intelligent women, now and forever”.

It is power dressing for women who do not want to wear Margaret Thatcher-style tailored suits.

Plus, it is the perfect label for Labour’s women as brand owner Clare Hornby is married to marketing and PR bigwig Johnny Hornby, who previously worked on Tony Blair’s 2001 election campaign.

While it might not be for the school run, Clare has found a formula that looks classy, complements all figures and shows you mean business — without being too ostentatious.

Sadly, the price tag is a barrier for many women wanting to recreate the look — a plain white vest sells for £45 and a leather jacket is £650.
