Marin coroner names motorcyclist killed in Inverness

Emanuel Jimenez Romero, 22, of Santa Rosa was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

A motorcyclist who died in a collision in Inverness last weekend was Emanuel Jimenez Romero, 22, of Santa Rosa, the county coroner’s office said.

The office released Romero’s name Wednesday after completing the notification of family members.

The crash happened at about 2 p.m. Sunday on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near Mount Vision Road. Romero was traveling east at a high speed when he crossed double yellow lines and drove into an oncoming minivan head-on, Chief Deputy Coroner Roger Fielding said. Romero was trying to pass slower traffic, Fielding said.

Romero was pronounced dead at the scene after bystanders and first responders attempted to save him, Fielding said. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
